Cancer Prevention Diet Tip: Focus on Plant Based Foods

The best diet for preventing or fighting cancer is a predominantly plant-based diet that includes a variety of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. A plant-based diet means eating mostly foods that come from plants: vegetables, fruits, nuts, grains, and beans.

The less processed these foods are—the less they’ve been cooked, peeled, mixed with other ingredients, stripped of their nutrients, or otherwise altered from the way they came out of the ground—the better.

There are many ways to add plant-based foods to your diet. A nice visual reminder is to aim for a plate of food that is filled at least two-thirds with whole grains, vegetables, beans, or fruit. Dairy products, fish, and meat should take up no more than a third of the plate. Keep in mind that you don’t need to go completely vegetarian. Instead, focus on adding “whole” foods, which are foods close to their original form.

Just as important, try to minimize or reduce the amount of processed foods you eat. Eat an apple instead of drinking a glass of apple juice, for example. Or enjoy a bowl of oatmeal with raisins instead of an oatmeal raisin cookie.

Simple tips for getting more plant-based foods in your diet

Breakfast: Add fruit and a few seeds or nuts to your whole grain breakfast cereal (oatmeal!).

Lunch: Eat a big salad filled with your favorite beans and peas or other combo of veggies. Always order lettuce and tomato (plus any other veggies you can!) on your sandwiches. Order whole grain bread for your sandwiches. Have a side of veggies like cut up carrots, sauerkraut or a piece of fruit.

Snacks: fresh fruit and vegetables. Grab an apple or banana on your way out the door. Raw veggies such as carrots, celery, cucumbers, jicama, peppers, etc. are great with a low-fat dip such as hummus. Keep trail mix made with nuts, seeds and a little dried fruit on hand.

Dinner: Add fresh or frozen veggies to your favorite pasta sauce or rice dish. Top a baked potato with broccoli and yogurt, sautéed veggies, or with salsa. Replace creamy pasta sauces, with sautéed vegetables or tomato sauce made with healthy olive oil.

Dessert: Choose fruit instead of a richer dessert. Or a single square of dark chocolate.

Buy organic or local produce, if possible.

Some pesticides found in commercially-grown produce are also suspected carcinogens. Organic foods are free of these pesticides, and locally grown produce is less likely to have been treated with chemicals to prevent spoilage.

Cut Your Beer Gut and Crush Your Fat Genes with Morris County Personal Trainer


Morris County Personal Trainer Carey Yang will lead a new group fitness training class titled “Crush Your Fat Genes: Train Like a Fitness Model Without Being One” starting Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 7:30 pm. This fat-burning and muscle-toning boot camp will take place at Morris Knolls High School in Rockaway, New Jersey.

DENVILLE, NJ -- February 21, 2011 – Two-thirds of Americans are either overweight or obese. Obesity has become epidemic and the number one disease to fight against to minimize the risk of cancer, cardiovascular conditions, and high blood pressure.

“Overweight and obesity has negatively impacted our healthcare system and drained our resources,” says Carey Yang, a personal trainer and owner of Beyond Fitness Solutions, LLC based in Denville, New Jersey.

“As a personal trainer, my job is help my clients get on a healthy lifestyle by motivating them, doing regular workout through strength training and cardio exercises, and eating a nutrient-rich diet,” said Yang. “The problem is that far too many people are too busy to do any of those due to modern lifestyle. It’s my mission to change and reverse the down trend.”

Many fat people blame their fat genes by looking at their parents and family. Some research findings seem to prove that. But it is not conclusive. Obesity is the result of many influences. Genetics is only one of them.

“Most of the factors that affect body composition are entirely under your control. These factors include how much you eat, what you eat, when you eat, what type of exercise you do, how frequently you exercise, how long you exercise and how hard you exercise,” Yang said.

Yang is leading a group fitness training class called “Crush Your Fat Genes: Train Like a Fitness Model Without Being One.”

This fitness training program lets the students experience the most effective, time-efficient workouts for fat loss and muscle toning. “Whatever it takes” is the motto.

“Yes, you can train and look like a fitness model without being one, at any age. The total-body CORE program combines kickboxing and self-defense while utilizing bodyweight and light weights,” Yang said. “You’ll walk out of the training with a sense of pride, self-confidence and feeling of strength, energy and stamina."

Sneaky Diet Supplement Scam

Ever wonder why that "miracle muscle builder" supplement that


hoovered up last week's paycheck didn't perform as well as it did

for the shredded dude in the magazine ad?



* Were you just not working hard enough in the gym?



* Are you just too much of a "hardgainer"?



* Did you forget to use the magic words?



That's what some of the big supplement companies would like you

to believe.



When in fact, it's not YOU at all!



A recent review of the slick marketing tactics used by MOST of

the greedy bodybuilding supplement companies revealed some pretty

scary tricks that you may have fallen for in the past.



Here are the Top 3 findings (and how you can be sure to NEVER get

1. "Proprietary Blends"

If the ingredient label on a supplement says "patent-pending" or

"proprietary blend", be VERY careful and you probably don't

want to buy it.



That's scam-talk for "cheap worthless supplements we don't want

to tell you about!"



Companies can combine any simple compounds (whether they work or

not) and submit them for a patent WITHOUT even telling you what's

in their super secret formula.



Sounds "official"...but it's a smoke screen!

2. "Pixie Dust"

Most supplements list "proven" active ingredients on their labels

that CAN help you build more muscle and burn fat.



Unfortunately, most of them contain so LITTLE of the actual

ingredient that they will literally have NO EFFECT on your body

unless you take expensive MEGA-DOSES!



Usually the language that's used is something like, "...contains

an ingredient proven to blah, blah, blah..."



"Contains" = "Sucker" Don't be one.

3. Scientific Jargon

==============



We're conditioned to accept medicines as having a powerful effect

on our body.



That's why supplement companies will use the latin or scientific

name for a compound on the ingredients label to jack up the price

for something that costs just pennies to produce.



In an expose, a friend of mine actually found one expensive

"advanced" supplement that was using the long scientific name for

plain old creatine...and charging a small fortune for it.



In another testosterone-boosting supplement, the manufacturers

used the scientific name for (get this...) black tea leaves!



The bottle cost nearly $60 and it was filled with nothing more

than ground up black tea leaves with its latin name!



Makes you want to give up on supplements, doesn't it?

Well that would actually

be a HUGE mistake!

Because not ALL supplement companies resort to these

measures... their are some legit good guys still out there.
